Easy Slippers For Beginners

These slippers are great for beginners or anyone that wants to make a pair of slippers quickly. Done in double strands of yarn so they work up fast.

MATERIALS
4 ply worsted weight yarn - use double strand (I used Red Heart Supersaver Light Periwinkle 175 gram skein with lots left over) I used a small amount of black for the soles.

Hook - 5.00mm or H hook
Size: Will fit a 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 inch foot. The stitch count in brackets are for small and large. Small is one inch smaller and Large is one inch larger. I made a pair in large for my husband and they fit him perfectly. Note: I have not made these slippers in the small. I based this size on my calculations using the gauge. Gauge: 3 sc = 1 inch, 3 rows = 1 inch.

Abbreviations used:
st - stitch
ch - chain
ss - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
To make 2 sc tog: Insert hook in first stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert into second stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.

Double your yarn by working with 2 strands. I rolled the yarn into two balls and worked from both.

SOLE
Ch 4
Row 1 - 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in next chain, 2 sc in last chain, ch 1 and turn. (5 sc)
Row 2 - 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Row 3 - 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 and turn. (7 sc)
Row 4 - 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 1, turn. (9 sc)
Rows 5 to 14 (2 rows less for small - add 2 more rows for large) - 1 sc in each sc. (9 sc)
Row 15 - 2 sc tog, 1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc tog, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Rows 16 to 27 (1 row less for small - add 1 more row for large) - 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn. (7 sc)
Row 28 - 2 sc tog, 1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc tog, ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
Row 29 - 2 sc tog, 1 sc in next 1 sc, 2 sc tog, ch 1, turn. (3 sc)
Next you will do a round of sc all around the sole in the following manner: Slip stitch in first sc, in next sc do a slip stitch and a ch 1 and 1 sc. 1 sc in next sc. 1 sc at the end of each row. You now have 31 sc (28 sm - 34 lg) 1 sc in each of the 3 chs. You now have 34 sc (31 sm - 37 lg). 1 sc at the end of each row. 1 sc in the 1st slip stitch you made at the beginning. 64 sc total (58 sm - 70 lg), ch 1, turn.

    1. No, I'm sorry but I don't have a pattern for any other sizes of these slippers. You could try a smaller size hook, that might work. If it's still not small enough you could use the smaller hook and a lighter yarn, like sport weight. I hope this helps! ~Sue
